- Typography Personal Project
This was a typography project that I had wanted to have a go at for a while. I wanted to generate a new typeface that could be used for a book or magazine cover. This effect was generated with the use of long exposure photography, strong torch and a very lovely stone wall.
The stone wall featured in this project is part of a Saxon Church – St Mary the Virgin Church – Bexwell, Norfolk. More information about the church and its round tower can be found here.
I borrowed a friend for this project who has a traditional hand writing style that I hoped would be able to be replicated with a torch – however it appears that a large torch is slightly harder to hand write with than a pen! Along the way we tried several different techniques before settling on this final version. This included a longer exposure time; drawing directly onto the wall and allowing the camera to do its thing! This way I felt that the stone wall showed up the most, giving these rich colours and textures to the typography.
